A short history of Kemper Golf Kemper Golf, founded in 1952, is the only remaining full line golf distributor based in Ohio. Over these years Kemper Golf, operating as a small local company, has provided well over 100 jobs to local Ohio residents. Kemper Golf was founded as American Sportsman Equipment Co in 1952 when William Junker, a founder of Westgate Rubber Co. Who had joined with the Fawick Flexigrip Co., asked Larry Kemper to represent a new grip which was to replace leather grips. At that time only leather was used on golf clubs. Kemper gave up his job in management training at the Firestone Bank and went on the road selling the new grip to golf professionals as the first Golf Pride distributor.

The company and the grip, both located in in Akron OH, evolved into Kemper Golf and Golf Pride grips. A complete history of the grip can be found in a book published by Mr. Junker called, 'A History of the Golf Pride Grip Today Kemper Golf is among the largest distributors of Golf Pride grips as well as such brands as Lamkin, Winn, Sharpro, Avon and Tacki-Mac. We are also able to provide every item a pro shop or superintendent may need.

Products for the shop include tees, pencils, head covers, regrip supplies, clothing, embroidery, silkscreening, clubs, gloves, umbrellas, range balls, spikes and much more. Products for the superintendent include cups, flags, poles, tee markers, fairway markers, washers, range ball washers and dispensers as well as numerous sundry items used daily by all courses.

Kemper Golf also operates Stitches & Screens; a division originally created to service our many needs for embroidering and silkscreening towels, umbrellas and clothing. Today Stitches & Screens provides these services to numerous contract customers and corporations in addition to our original golf facilities. Stitches & Screens provides in-house production and creation of graphic art for our customers for embroidery or silkscreening.
